I LOVE MY BODY (again)!

Week 2 completed! OMG! The visible results from the past 14 days of taking the HCG and being on 500 calories/day are incredible! I feel like a thousand bucks! Seriously.. I am not exaggerating things or acting overexcited - its really happening! I can literally FEEL the fat melting off my body every day and watch myself getting skinnier in the mirror! As for the numbers - here they are:

past week total
Lbs lost 4.5 15.1
Inches lost on Bust 0.5 0.5
Inches lost on Waist 1 1
Inches lost on Hips 0 1
Inches lost on Bicep (left) 0.1 1.8
Inches lost on Bicep (right) 0 2
Inches lost on Thigh (left) 0 0.7
Inches lost on Thigh (right) 0 0.2
Inches lost on Calf (left) 0 0.3
Inches lost on Calf (right) 0 0.4

This past week, I had about 2-3 days where I didn't loose any weight. It just stopped. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday there was nothing happening on the scale. Then on Thursday the weight-loss continued and has been dropping since.

As for the way I feel - I feel awesome! My self-confidence is coming back and I am starting to love my body again and feeling confident about it. And that feeling reflects in my whole personality and the way I act. On Friday, I wore a pair of shorts (without the usual body forming anti-cellulite tights) and a T-shirt that I haven't worn in about 3 years, because it used to be too small with my belly hanging out at the bottom. I went shopping with my girlfriend, browsing around for party outfits. Since I love wearing corsets and bustiers, I went to a store where I get all those from and grabbed my usual size Large corset to try on. I couldn't believe my eyes when the corset turned out to be too big and I had to go one size down! It was unreal!

Then on Saturday I decided to wear one of my old corsets aaaaand - I believe, it was the last time I wore it! In a good way! The back was laced up all the way until the two halves met - which means that this corset is also getting too big! Bye bye purple corset (I really liked this one).

We went out to dinner on Saturday evening, which turned out to be a challenge well accomplished. I managed to sneak in my own dinner that I prepped at home beforehand and ate my Steak & Zucchini, while the others ate their Enchiladas, Tacos and other Mexican delights. Good thing the waiter didn't see it, I don't think you're allowed to bring your own food to a restaurant :)

Going out clubbing and not being able to drink was the biggest diet challenge I've encountered so far. With everyone around me getting more and more drunk by the hour and me standing around with my water bottle (being the "designated driver" of course), really sucked!!! I was getting annoyed at the end of the night and had a hard time staying positive. But then I kept thinking to myself "Its all worth it, Steffi" and still had a fun night dancing away to the beat :) I think the best thing is to just not go out too much and expose yourself to all the temptations, while being on this diet.

All in all - I feel amazing and I am very very happy!!! I've lost 15lbs so far and it shows! I have 16 more days to go on the HCG Diet and am planning to loose another 20 lbs. And I know I can do it!

First Week - COMPLETED! :)

I've been lazy the past 3 days writing my blog, too busy enjoying the last few days with my friend Carina, who had to fly back to Germany yesterday, after staying with me for a few weeks over my birthday. So first of all, I'm sorry about not posting anything...

Today is Monday - Day 7 of my diet and the first week is completed! Today was the big day - the measuring day! I am finally getting to see if the past 7 days are showing some progress. And they did! Here are the results:

Lbs lost since May 1st (incl. Dr. Oz 3 Day Detox Clense & HCG Diet)  - 10.6lbs
Lbs lost in 1st week of HCG Diet - 6.6lbs

Inches lost on Bust - 0 (Thank god!)
Inches lost on Waist - 0 (I'm ok with that, since I have a small waist)
Inches lost on Hips - 1"
Inches lost on Bicep (left) - 1.7"Inches lost on Bicep (right) - 2"
Inches lost on Thigh (left) - 0.7"
Inches lost on Thigh (right) - 0.2"
Inches lost on Calf (left) - 0.3"
Inches lost on Calf (right) - 0.4"

I am super happy with the first weeks progress! I've done plenty of other diets that took much more suffering than this one did in the first week.

Overall I can say from the first week - I feel awesome and didn't expect this diet to be so "easy". Yes I did feel hungry the first 2-3 days and had a slight headache. And yes - I still have cravings when I smell someone else preparing/eating something that I like. But with the strict diet and the timed food intake, its definitely doable! I'm still struggling with drinking my min. 10 cups of water every day, but getting better at it. I bought this giant jug from the 99 cent store that fits exactly 10 cups and trying to finish an entire one by the end of each day. Being able to use MIO Water Enhancer helps a lot to make the water intake easier.

I had a bit of a hard time over the weekend, but stayed strong and didn't slip. We went to the Observatory on Saturday night and afterwards, everyone got a Frozen Yogurt. That was pretty hard, watching everyone eat and enjoy their dessert, while I sipped on my water.

I have to remember to take more snacks with me, when I leave the house. Snacks as in cucumber slices, since cucumbers are free foods and I can eat as many of them as I want. Another free food is celery, but like I mentioned before - I'm not a big fan of munching on a stick of raw celery...

Then yesterday on Sunday night, we went to the movies to see "The Great Gatsby" (what an awesome movie btw!). This time I prepared better and took a small Tupperware dish with me, filled with thick sliced cucumbers and a Vitamin Water Zero. But the smell of delicious pop corn and my husband munching M&Ms next to me was pretty hard to resist. But I did it!

Another thing that's finally happening is that I'm getting more and more used to my morning coffee without milk/creamer. I used to have at least 2 Tablespoons of flavored creamer in my coffee, there was no way getting around that, I had to have my creamer or I was unable to drink a cup of coffee. Now with the diet and only being able to have 1 Tablespoon of milk a day and adding a sachet of Stevia, I slowly started getting used to the taste. It took a while, I have to be honest. The first week was horrible and I just wanted to skip the morning coffee all together. I ran out of milk at some point last week and had no time grabbing some, so the next morning I had to no choice but to go black ;) And surprisingly it wasn't that bad. I've had my coffee black since then and still have not picked up any milk, lol!

The Walden Farms products are my best friends and I couldn't imagine a life without them! For my 3.5oz of protein for dinner I usually have steak and I love the Barbecue Sauce! The Balsamic Vinaigrette usually gets used every other day for a green salad and 3.5oz of chicken breast for lunch.

I'm slowly starting to get a routine and am very happy!

Walden Farms Products - how awesome!

HCG Buy Direct (the company I'm doing this diet from) provided me with a lot of information before starting the program. Part of it was a diet booklet, that came with my drops. In there was a note about the Walden Farm products, which I checked out yesterday. They sell them at Albertsons and Ralph's here in California (other store locations can be searched at www.waldenfarms.com

The amazing thing about these products is, that they have NO CALORIES, NO FAT, NO CARBS, NO GLUTEN and NO SUGARS of any kind! How awesome is that!?!? I bought some BBQ Sauce and a Balsamic Vinaigrette. They are HCG Diet approved and I will use them from now on - even after this program! The BBQ Sauce tastes delicious just like the normal cheap brand, maybe a little thinner in its consistency (more steak sauce like). I cant believe I've never noticed this brand before! Walden Farms also carries syrups, condiments, pasta sauces, dips and spreads. A bottle of BBQ Sauce goes for about $5.

So for my lunch yesterday (3.5oz of steak and vegetables) I enjoyed my steak with BBQ sauce and it was awesome!! :)

Day 3 - The first real diet day

So after the gluttony of the past 2 days, today was the first real dieting day. And of course, I almost screwed up right away... After my coffee/breakfast, I walked out the house and totally forgot that I was going to be gone from 12 noon until 6:30pm. While driving, I was thinking about what kind of lunch/dinner the diet will have in store for me today. Doh!!! I had to turn around, drive back home and prepare my lunch & snacks for those 6.5 hours! Good thing I did, because once 2pm came round, I was starving!

So here's what I had today:
- 1 large coffee with 1 Tablespoon of Milk and Vanilla-flavored liquid Stevia
- 6 Strawberries (11am)
- 3.5oz of Shrimp and 3.5oz Zucchini, seasoned with salt, pepper and marjoram (2:30pm)
- 6 Strawberries (4pm)
- 3.5oz of Steak and 3.5oz of green salad with balsamic vinegar, salt/pepper (7:30pm)
- about 2 liters (9 cups) of liquid (water mostly)
- and in between the drops (3x10), I tried chewing on some celery sticks, but that was eww..

Seeing it written down here, it doesn't look much. And really, its not.. I'm still pretty hungry! Actually, I'm still starving! I have had a slight headache all day. Not a bad one, but a little constant dull pain. I didn't take any pain killers, but I think I might pop an aspirin now. I wonder why I have this headache, maybe because of the blood sugar thing...

Drinking 2 liters (about 9 cups) of water today was more than I usually drink. I'm bad with consuming enough water and always have been. I think my normal water intake per day isn't more than 4 cups or so (morning coffee included). So I kind of had to force myself to gulp down bottle after bottle of water and I did also use the MIO Water Enhancer to make it taste like Fruit Punch (that stuff has zero calories). And oh boy did all that water make me having to run to the bathroom a lot! I think I must have went pee about 10 times! I literally had to stop every 30 minutes or so...

My conclusion: The first day was pretty tough. Lets see how tomorrow goes. I have a feeling it's going to be even tougher...

Day 1 & 2 - The "Loading Phase"

So today is the second and final day of the "loading phase". I really like this one, lol! During the first two days of the HCG Diet, the goal is to eat as many high-fat foods as possible, while already taking the drops 3x daily. Reason behind this is so that the cells transports the HCG into your system more easy and it also prepares the body for the extremely low calorie phase 2 and prevents it from going into starvation mode. Ergo - eat all the things I like and eat a lot of it! After all, I wont be getting any of this for the next month or two :)

Since it was Memorial Day yesterday, eating high-fat foods wasn't a problem. My friend Carina baked a German bread yesterday, which we enjoyed with a butter spread. While chilling by the pool in the afternoon, I ate a double chocolate muffin and Milano cookies and  last night we went to Bubba Gump Shrimp and I had shrimp pasta (yum!!). Gosh, I feel terrible writing all this, but that's what the diet tells you to do! I'll probably be craving all of this very soon... Things will be going the other way round after today. But first, I'll have some Kaesespaetzle (German cheese noodle dish) for lunch! LOL!

I got a gift card from Guess for my birthday and decided to hang on to it, until after the diet. No need to buy any clothes right now, when I'm just about to loose weight. And since I think I have enough shoes and purses at this juncture, I'll wait and reward myself with a new outfit after the diet.

Descisions

There comes a time in everyone's life, where you feel like you have to make some changes. Where the monotone daily routine that snuck its way into your life and the repeating actions and habits that we undertake, need to go through a serious makeover.

I moved to Los Angeles a few years ago and until then, I believe I was a healthy 20 something young German girl, that never really had to watch her weight and never interpreted too much into the whole diet craze and skinny=beautiful idealism of this world. Moving to LA has certainly changed that over time. Settling in and becoming comfortable with the American ways of eating and enjoying life at first was awesome! I wasn't a big burger & fries fan back in Germany, but moving here and being exposed to the wide variety of all these new yummy dishes, really changed that. I discovered my love for this amazing thing they call Lumberjack Breakfast with all that delicious Bacon!! (In Germany, we have rye bread with a thin spread of jam or Nutella and maybe a hard-boiled egg for breakfast) Burritos from Del Taco, BBQ Chicken Pizza from Dominos and Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo (and of course - more BACON), became my new favorite foods to eat. Salads, Fruit and vegetarian dishes slowly started disappearing from my plate. Being from one of the biggest beer countries in the world, I was already used to consuming a fair amount of beer, but nothing like the beer here. German beer is much thicker and higher in its alcohol content. You could pretty much say for one bottle of German beer, you'd have to have 3 Bud light to get the same kind of buzz. Having to admit, I don't even see Bud light as a real "beer", since its so thin. But anyway, since it seems to be one of the #1 beers being consumed by the people around me, I didn't want to be the odd woman out and developed a fairly fast gulp of this beverage. And as we all know - beer goes straight on your belly (or hips)! Along with all the mentioned above delights, I slowly started gaining weight. At first not noticeable and I was still wearing my size 6-8 clothes, dancing on stage and feeling/looking good the way I did. But over the course of the next 1.5 years, the jeans started getting tighter, the lack of exercise started showing and (as a positive side effect of all this) my bras started getting too small. Before I knew it, I was a size 12 and inwardly changed my usual sexy tight and revealing Gogo Dancing wardrobe to PinUp style clothing, which enhances the womanly curves, but hides the problematic zones. The bikinis gave way to the once piece bathing suits and booty shorts were replaced by long skirts and pants. Being 5'9" did help a lot to hide the extra pounds and no one really noticed my weight gain as much. To be honest, I never found myself to be disgustingly "fat", except for that awful feeling of your thighs rubbing together when walking. That was something I've never experienced before and it freaked me out. But after visiting my doctor’s office a few weeks ago and being diagnosed with high cholesterol at age 29, it was kind of a wake-up call. I have always been a healthy person, active and exercising. But something happened along the way that turned me into a rather lazy, chubby couch potato. High cholesterol does run in my family and my dad had to have 2 stents implanted after his heart attack in 2012. After a long conversation with my mom, I knew I had to do something to prevent the same thing happening to me in 15 or 20 years.

I looked in the mirror and didn't like what I saw. I was just about to turn 30 and for a woman, that is bad enough. Every girl over 30 reading this, knows what I mean and how she felt when she was just about to enter her 30s. I was just about to reach a certain milestone in my life... Do I really want to be a fat 30 year old, if I keep going like this? A size 12? Unable to wear all the nice clothes that pile up in my closets? Ending up like my mom who was the same size as me when she was young, but after having my brother and me, piling on the lbs. and fighting for every inch ever since? She told me that once you turn 30, it gets harder to lose weight...

Talking numbers, I gained about 35lbs. I was 132lbs during the tour in the summer of 2010 and a few weeks ago I couldn't believe my eyes when that damn scale dared to show 169lbs. Yes I am tall, but still. I was always skinny and fit, but this was gone too far!

That's when I made the decision that it’s time for some changes. Time to throw the old habits overboard, time to pull myself together and do something about this. And all that without resorting to sticking my finger down my throat or snorting coke to suppress hunger. I decided that after my birthday had passed, I'm going to drop the weight again. Screw the work as a plus size model, if the price I'm having to pay is health issues and feeling unhappy with myself.

I spent a while trying to figure out what the right diet is. I knew from past diets that just a crash diet won’t do - I need to change my eating habits, increase my exercise level and need a lifestyle makeover. But of course all that needs to be underlined with a strict diet program to lose the extra lbs I gained in 2 years. I researched and talked to certain people until one day I saw our friend who lost an incredible amount of weight over the past few months. After more research and talk, I decided to go with the HCG Diet, the same diet as my friend successfully accomplished.

This blog is going to record my progress, my ups and downs, my thoughts and feelings over the next 2 months. I've never written a blog before and have no plan on how to go about this. You are all welcome to follow along with my story and feel free to leave your comments. I know many will be "oh but you are not fat Steffi, you look amazing!" - But that's not really what this blog should be about and not really what’s going to help me in accomplishing this goal I have set for myself.

Enjoy.

What is the HCG Diet?

I decided to go with the "30 Day HCG Diet Program" from HCG Buy Direct. I've heard great things about this company and that they have an amazing support system. They were recommended to me by a friend and here is some useful information from their website http://hcgbuydirect.com/

-----------------------------

The HCG Diet plan is a calorie restriction diet and the strictest of its kind. There are good low fat foods and bad high fat foods. Useful and non-useful meats, fish, fruits, and even vegetables. So the question arises: Isn’t it the low calorie diet that is causing dieters to shed the pounds and not the HCG formula? Dieters say that it would be impossible for them to comfortably eat only 500 calories per day without the aid of the appetite suppressing properties of the HCG formula. Can we put comfortable and 500 calories per day in the same sentence? Users of the HCG formula exclaim that is the miracle.

How does Oral HCG Work? The idea is that the Oral HCG is more than an average appetite suppressant. It is a powerful hormone that works with the already present hormones in the body to burn stored fats while maintaining muscle structures. The Oral HCG is administered with a dropper under the tongue.

When exercising or restricting food intake, the body relies on and consumes the normal fat reserves. The body cannot access the abnormal fat accumulations. The use of the HCG hormone releases abnormal fat deposits and makes the fat available for consumption by the body.

Patients on the Oral HCG program lose between 1 to 3 pounds per day. Because the HCG hormone (human chorionic gonadotropin) makes the abnormal fat available, the body begins living off the fat – the fat provides a source of energy, just as food does. Patients are instructed to reduce food to 500 calories per day, however, hunger is not noticed because 3,500 additional calories are consumed each day by the body. The results: patients lose about 1-3 pound per day while using the HCG formula.

Human chorionic gonadotropin or the oral HCG formula naturally acts as an Appetite suppressant. The basis of the program is a Calorie restriction diet. Dieters find that the 500 calories diet is not difficult given the HCG formula’s powerful properties to suppress appetite. Dieters feel plenty of energy and shed 1-3 pounds per day.

HCG or human chorionic gonadotropin is produced during Pregnancy by the developing glands. It is most commonly known in association with the HCG diet program. The new HCG diet craze is out but it’s not so new after all. Over 50 years ago Dr. ATW Simeons pioneered the base study of HCG and was the primary producer of the HCG Diet plan. Since it’s conception, the HCG Diet has been a reputable diet system. Millions of dieters have used HCG and thousands of doctors subscribe it. Users seem to be chorusing the same tune. That HCG is affective. The users also testify that it has rapid weight loss properties. Dieters boast a loss of 1-3 pounds per day.
